Risk Management

Texas State University is legally obligated to provide risk management training to all student organization. The training is provided by Student Involvement at the Student Organizations Conference. The risk management training provided is beneficial to you and your organization.


STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS CONFERENCE

The Student Organizations Conference provides training related to a variety of topics, policies, and procedures beneficial to student organizations. This includes the state-mandated risk management training required for all student organizations per Texas Education Code § 51.9361. Risk Management Programs for Members and Advisors of Student Organizations.


YOUR ROLE AS A STUDENT ORGANIZATION LEADER

As a student organization leader, you hold the responsibility to be informed and educated on how to protect your organization from unnecessary potential and perceived risks. To help you operate your organizations in a safe and successful manner, Student Involvement and Student Organizations Council (SOC), host Student Organizations Conference. Organization representatives required to participate in this training include the president and one additional officer.

Following the conference officers are responsible for presenting a summary of the training to their organization's members. This is state law and officers are legally obligated to provide the information to members and then submit confirmation of training to Student Involvement.
